If there’s a word which describes Kenny Segall, it’s cool—that free flowing mercurial cool—the spirit that inundates the pedals he designs. It began with his interest in Sci-Fi movies … and how sound impacted their success.As a young guitar player, he wanted to create these wild sounds with his instrument. Having gathered sound engineering knowledge from the electronics business his father had established (of which he is now a partner), he began building these effects himself. Kenny was playing club dates by age 15 and because he displayed a proficiency for this type of music, landed a few commercials and film soundtracks.
Even the unique look of the Snarling Dogs pedals was inspired by Kenny. He was at a speed shop one day, where he picked up a foot-shaped accelerator pedal. He brought it back to his shop and attached it to a wah prototype.The feel of it was comfortable and the look … very cool! There was such an enthusiastic response to it at the NAMM trade show that year, the foot became the trademarked look of the Snarling Dogs pedal design.
But it is his combined knowledge of audio electronics and his intimacy and passion for electric guitars that gives Kenny all the tools he needs to keep inventing the uniquely original sounds of the Snarling Dogs line.These wahs are unique. Ordinary wah sounds … embellished … enhanced … combined … twisted … to enable players to produce unlimited effects possibilities. New combinations and improvements occur to him all the time.
Kenny demonstrates the Snarling Dogs wahs and effects pedals at major trade shows during the year.
